March 8th 12-1pm
Attend this virtual session to learn more about the status of our campus recycling programs and to get a glimpse of how the broader recycling industry is performing.
Sue Higgins, Northeastern’s Associate Director of Materials and Recycling, will highlight the University’s current materials management efforts, including the latest recycling, composting, and disposal data for campus. Caitlin Smith, Recycling and Organics Coordinator for Republic Services, will provide an overview of what happens to our recycling when it leaves campus (and our homes); she’ll focus on where it goes and how it is processed, which impacts what can and cannot be recycled through traditional programs.
Finally, Gretchen Carey, Sustainability Director, New England Region, for Republic Services and President of the non-profit coalition MassRecycle, will spotlight the regional recycling market, addressing the current market strength of recyclable commodities and sharing information on current trends and initiatives.
We look forward to seeing you there!
