Project Description
The new 350,000 square foot state-of-the-art research center called EXP will be located between the Interdisciplinary Science and Engineering Complex (ISEC) and Ruggles Station, and is scheduled to be completed in 2023. EXP will be the second science building enhancing Northeastern’s commitment to creating a globally networked ecosystem for research, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
The new modern research space is designed to be completely flexible, allowing conversion from dry labs to wet labs as needed to accommodate different occupants. The space is laid out to promote collaboration between students across disciplines, and will include teaching and research labs, classrooms, makerspace, dedicated space for innovative work in autonomous vehicles, drones and robots, a cafe, and a faculty club. The exterior of the building was designed to harmonize with the newly completed Science and Engineering Complex and the pedestrian bridge, which will connect the two buildings.
EXP will enable students and researches to network, connect, and collaborate, bringing a range of knowledge, experience, and perspective together.
