Tunnel Art – Celebration

Stop by Snell Quad on April 20th from 12 to 2:00 p.m. to learn about brand-new art installations in the tunnel system. Meet the artists behind five pieces of art centering on climate justice and learn what inspired their work. Grab free giveaways, snacks, and art, and talk to staff from the Hub to learn more about Northeastern’s work in general and for the upcoming Climate Justice Action Plan.

The competition was held by the Climate Justice and Sustainability Hub and the Student Sustainability Committee to increase engagement and awareness of climate justice and sustainability.

Each art piece revolves around one of the core goals of the Hub, as listed below:

  • Continue to advance campuses as models of sustainable, resilient, healthy, and inclusive communities.

  • Contribute to a just and regenerative economy, both locally and globally.

  • Collaborate with adjacent communities to contribute to an equitable and sustainable neighborhood.

  • Leverage research and academic strengths to advance just and equitable solutions to the climate crisis.

Winners were decided by a vote from the Student Sustainability Committee, though work that will not be installed in the tunnels will be featured in a booklet at the event.
